Vettel: 'Everything that could go wrong, did'

"To limp home, under the [second] safety car - obviously at that moment I didn't know if it was enough," said Vettel. "I was told a couple of laps before that it should be fine, but then I didn't know."

And then the word had come from team principal Christian Horner: it was indeed enough, and Vettel was now a three-time champion, even if he wasn't able to clinch the title with a podium as he'd been hoping for.

"Sixth is still a very good result," he pointed out. "Some races this year we would have been happy to finish sixth, so we can be very happy with that, and obviously it happened to be the last race and the championship decider and it went in our favour."

And whatever the end position, the championship had certainly been decided in a thrilling season finale for all concerned.

"I think you guys had your show, we had to really fight until the end," said the 2012 world champion.

more than what happen to his race, the collision between Hulk and Lewis was the worst thing for Seb, Until then Alonso was not even in title race with a fourth place finish.

Are you people really saying Vettel caused the collision with Senna? What are you smoking? I want some of that! Vettel was on the dry racing line and Senna tried to cut on the inside but locked up off the racing line in the wet off line. If you watch, the first turns up until the accident, Seb was going slow and cautious as to not ruin his race with contact. Do you really think he would try to fight for that spot with Senna? Both Williams drivers have a huge lack of judgements and are always fighting for spaces that don't exist. Disappearing wedges. And no, I Alonso does not deserve anything other than 2nd place. He is a great driver and even with all his help from his teammate couldn't get it done. Webber finished 2 spots in front of Vettel! That is a true champion. No team orders. Now go back to the drawing board and see if you scan find any design scraps from Newey's trash can that you can find to use. Anything would be better than that slow F2012 car.
