Jake Dennis has secured a test with the McLaren
F1 team after being named as the latest recipient of the McLaren
Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year award.
The 17-year-old, who won the Formula Renault
NEC title this season, saw off the challenge of Jack Hawksworth, Josh Hill, Jordan King, Melville Mckee and Josh Webster to become the 24th winner of the award – following in the footsteps of drivers including David Coulthard, Jenson Button
and Paul di Resta.
Dennis also becomes the second driver with backing from the Racing Steps Foundation to be named as winner of the award after 2011 victor Oliver Rowland.
As well as the opportunity to sample a McLaren
F1 car, Dennis also picks up £100,000, full membership of the BRDC, a TW Steel watch and Puma racewear for a year.
