Sebastian Vettel may have won the drivers' championship for the third year in succession in 2012, but the outcome was by no means certain.

Indeed the fight went right to the wire and in the end the Red Bull Racing pilot finished with just 3 points more than arch rival Fernando Alonso following a dramatic final race in Brazil.

With eight different winners over the 20-race campaign and six world champions on track - more than at any stage in the past - Sir Jackie Stewart recently said it was 'as good as we could have had'.

But what do you think?

It was a good season. The third best driver won in the best car. I cannot agree with the inconsistent penalties being handed out though - different interpretation from race to race. Schumacher got very few penalties without serious punishment. If that was Grosjean or Maldonado they would have been banned. It all seems a bit staged to me though!
