Chilton secures Marussia seat?

Max Chilton set to be announced by Marussia for F1 2013?

Max Chilton will drive for Marussia next season and team up with Timo Glock, it is being reported.

The GP2 race winner has been tipped to step up to the pinnacle of the sport for a while and that speculation intensified last month after Charles Pic opted to move to Caterham.

The Briton got his first taste of an F1 weekend when he took part in Friday practice for the outfit in Abu Dhabi at the start of last month and he now looks poised to join fellow countryman, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Paul di Resta on the F1 2013 grid. Indeed Marussia co-owner Nikolai Fomenko is believed to have confirmed to Russian journalists last weekend that the 21-year-old has got the nod.

BBC Sport F1 analyst and former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan has also claimed today that the deal has been done, although as yet there is no official confirmation.
