Ecclestone wants Alonso F1 title win in 2013

F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has said it wouldn't be too 'bad a thing' if there was a change to the pecking order in 2013.

Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull Racing successfully won the F1 drivers' and constructors' titles for the third year in a row last season and while Fernando Alonso and Ferrari kept the fight for the drivers' championship alive until the final race, in the end the Spaniard finished three points adrift.

Speaking to Italian newspaper, Corriere della Sera, Ecclestone admitted he wouldn't mind if the outcome was different this year and if it was Alonso who was eventually crowned the champion.

“Vettel is a true champion, but he's still young and can only improve in terms of being a character in the sport and in terms of his personality,” Ecclestone told the 'paper.

“As for Alonso, after three years of dominance by Red Bull Racing it wouldn't be too bad a thing if we were to have a change at the top of the sport, perhaps with Ferrari leading the way again...”
