Williams to launch its 2013 F1 challenger in Barcelona ahead of the second test of the off-season
New Williams to miss first test
Williams has announced that its 2013 F1 car won't appear in the opening test of the year after confirming the launch date for the FW35.

The Grove-based team will reveal the car on 19 February at Catalunya ahead of the second group test of the season – making it the first team to confirm that its new machine won't be on track for the Jerez test, that runs from 5-8 February.

Instead, the team will run the FW34 for the first on-track session of the year with a number of key development parts fitted ahead of the launch of the FW35.

The car will however run in its 2013 livery for the Jerez test.

Williams will field a new line-up this season, with test driver Valtteri Bottas moving into a race seat alongside Pastor Maldonado.

@BT33

Seems a bit extreme, if it's something radical (which is hard to imagine in the current rule set) then they need as much track time as possible. Maybe they have changed the chassis fundamentally although it seemed OK or it's passive DRS.

It's more likely that more resource is working on next years car and they are a little behind.

Anyway, calming Pastor down and making him not go mental when another car tries to pass him will reward them with much more points than a fancy passive DRS system.
