Daniel Ricciardo took another step towards getting on track for the opening day of pre-season testing by completing his seat fit at Toro Rosso's Faenza factory.

The Australian was able to look over the new STR8 while being measured up for his custom-built seat, and confirmed that he liked what he saw.

Big day with the team in Italy yesterday. Seat fit done. Cockpit is cute. Hopefully fast," he posted over the weekend, before revealing where he was heading next, "Back in England with the snow now."

Ricciardo has already confirmed that it will be him, and not team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne, who first gets to try the new car on track at Jerez when testing opens on 5 February, the day after STR officially launches its 2013 machine.

The 23-year old is also likely to have a new sporting director overseeing matters at Toro Rosso by that time, amid rumours that former Caterham man Steve Nielsen is heading to Faenza to reprise the role he held with Tony Fernandes' equipe last season.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Red Bull fence, a team source has confirmed the speculation that Mark Webber's engineer Ciaron Pilbeam is to swap jobs with Lotus' Simon Rennie ahead of the 2013 campaign.
