November date for Russian GP

The first Russian Grand Prix gets a November date according to the mayor of Sochi
The mayor of Sochi has announced that the city is set to play host to its first F1 race in November next year.

The race around the city will be the first F1 race on Russian soil, and is set to be held in the city after the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Concerns had been raised in the local media that work on creating the new circuit was running into problems, but mayor Anatoly Pakhomov said everything was going to plan ahead of the first race.

"It will be held in November, after the (2014 Winter) Olympics," he was quoted as telling reporters, "The circuit's construction is being closely monitored by the regional government. Everything is going according to plan.

"If we had any problems we would have asked for help from other regions."

It's a real geography test for anyone not from Russia to try and guess the climatic conditions of a Russian city. Sochi hasn't been chosen to host a GP "just cos", you know. You ever been to Greece or Croatia? Well, Sochi has Mediterranean climate, meaning that in November the temperature's going to be around 16-20 C'. No bears for spectators and no vodka, communism or any other stupid crap that everyone thinks about, should the talks turn towards Russia.
