Red Bull locks up Horner

Recent rumours linking Christian Horner with a possible switch to Ferrari can be scotched after news broke that the Briton had extended his existing contract with world champions Red Bull Racing.

The team told Reuters that 39-year old Horner had inked a a 'multi-year extension', without revealing any further detail of the deal. RBR heads into 2013 as pre-season favourite having claimed three back-to-back driver and team championships, and retains an unchanged line-up of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber.

Formerly a driver himself, reaching F3000 level, Horner has overseen each of the team's eight years in the top flight, culminating in Vettel's title hat-trick in 2012.

Red Bull is scheduled to become the sixth team to launch its 2013 challenge, when the covers come off the RB9 at Jerez on Sunday.
