FIRST PICS: Mercedes F1 W04

Mercedes has released the first official picture of its 2013 F1 challenger, the F1 W04.

The image has been revealed ahead of the official launch later today following an appeal to get fans to re-tweet a specific hashtag on Twitter. Each tweet triggered the opening of a garage door on the team's official website, behind which was hidden the new F1 W04. It eventually appeared in full this morning, although the 'sneak peck' wasn't without its problems, and actually crashed the team's web servers for more than four hours on Saturday.

The official launch will now take place in the pitlane at Jerez in Spain at 13.35 hours [local time], with Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg pulling the 'wraps off' the machine.

The car, however, has already been out on track today with Rosberg behind-the-wheel, as this video posted on YouTube by Lewis Hamilton shows, meaning there isn't actually much left to really 'unveil'...

The car looks okay to me. As someone else said earlier, 'looks pretty much the same as last years pup with a few extra appendages'. With such a huge regulation change for next year, I think most of the teams will be about where they were last year in terms of competitiveness and performance. With a few tweaks to the last years car there might be minor changes but nothing extraordinary. I can only imagine one team that would walk the extra mile and spend a ridiculous amount of money for a fractional performance gain, for a on year package, Ferrari. The huge changes will come next year with the new engines and all. Looking forward to see Rosberg completely destroy Hamiltons confidence and see more f-ups from him. 'Twitter-gate' 2.0 this year? :D

Ok Just say and it could happen that Hamilton sticks it on pole and wins the first 3 races. Rosberg qualifies around 8th and finishes 5th. What will you guys say then.... Must be the car? Rosberg being held back? Must be cheating? You will NEVER admit that Hamilton might just have a little talent!
