Mercedes has released the first official picture of its 2013 F1 challenger, the F1 W04.

The image has been revealed ahead of the official launch later today following an appeal to get fans to re-tweet a specific hashtag on Twitter. Each tweet triggered the opening of a garage door on the team's official website, behind which was hidden the new F1 W04. It eventually appeared in full this morning, although the 'sneak peck' wasn't without its problems, and actually crashed the team's web servers for more than four hours on Saturday.

The official launch will now take place in the pitlane at Jerez in Spain at 13.35 hours [local time], with Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg pulling the 'wraps off' the machine.

The car, however, has already been out on track today with Rosberg behind-the-wheel, as this video posted on YouTube by Lewis Hamilton shows, meaning there isn't actually much left to really 'unveil'...
