F1 » Launches end, testing starts at Jerez

Caterham and Marussia to unveil new cars as pre-season F1 action finally gets underway in southern Spain.
Launches end, testing starts at Jerez
The first wave of F1 car unveilings comes to a close at Jerez early this morning, as Caterham and Marussia take the wraps off their 2013 contenders immediately before the start of pre-season testing at Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain.

With Mercedes and Toro Rosso joining those rivals to have launched in the run-up to track action on Monday, it only remains for the two minnows to reveal their campaigns, with Williams not scheduled to get its 2013 car on track until 19 February in Barcelona. The Grove team will still be in Jerez, but with a version of its race-winning FW34.

Each team will have a single car on track over the next four days, giving those unveiled in the last few days a first chance to stretch their legs as they gather vital development data ahead of next month's opening grand prix in Melbourne.

Two further group tests, both at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya, follow in the next few weeks.

So, from what I've seen as I type this at 11:17 UK time...

- *whew!* look at Ricciardo go! (Probably on low fuel :P)
- McLaren still haven't solved their reliability issues
- The backmarker teams have ****ed up with their driver desicions... vdg and Chilton over 4s off the pace...
