No Georgie Thompson at Sky Sports F1 in 2013?

Georgie Thompson looks unlikely to return to the Sky Sports F1 fold this year.

Thompson has been with Sky Sports for over a decade, formerly with Sky Sports News before moving to Sky Sports F1 at the end of 2011.

However, as yet she has not been part of Sky Sports' F1 Show since its return in 2013, with Natalie Pinkham now featuring alongside host Ted Kravitz. Thompson's profile picture has also been removed from the Sky Sports F1 website, which has further fuelled speculation of a split.

According to reports in British newspaper, The Daily Mail, Thompson has decided to 'turn her back on the sport after becoming disillusioned at her lack of primetime billing'.

Last year she co-hosted the F1 Show, presented Saturday morning practice and featured in the Sky Pad during races with former F1 driver and analyst, Anthony Davidson.

“It is understood that Thompson wanted a bigger role within the team after playing second fiddle to main presenter Simon Lazenby, and chose to leave after producers failed to promise an improved billing,” writes Sportsmail scribe Phil Duncan.

It is believed Thompson could now be on the verge of moving to BT Sport, which has already head hunted several high profile names, including former BBC F1 presenter Jake Humphrey and Clare Balding.

Meanwhile, when quizzed on the subject last week, a spokesperson for Sky Sports, told The Daily Star: “There is nothing we can say at the moment...”

What a blow..!!!! Georgie and Ant had a great affinity together. She made it all work....!!!! She deserved a great deal more than she had. I will not be alone in mourning her absence from the F1 scene...Thought Sky F1 had more sense as they usually got things right, except this time alas ...Good luck Georgie, I for one will miss you...!!!!
