Di Resta: The pressure is on

Paul di Resta admits that the pressure is on him for the 2013 F1 season as he prepares for a third year in Force India colours
Paul di Resta says the pressure is on him to impress during the 2013 F1 season as the Scot prepares for his third year with Force India.

The former DTM title winner endured a frustrating end to his 2012 campaign after an accident in the season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix, with the 26-year-old ending the campaign 14th in the championship standings as a result.

Di Resta was linked with a number of other teams over the course of 2012 but having stayed with Force India for another season, he admitted that the pressure to perform was very much on after a difficult end to last year.

"For whatever reason nothing went the right way at the end of last season," he told the Press Association. "Essentially you always remember the end of a year more than the beginning, and with my crash as well. There were some good drives, some good pace, but it just never worked out.

"I've been through times like that where you just need to dig deep, and eventually you get out of it. Hopefully this year will be the year. Of course, there is pressure on me this year. It's my third year in Formula One, but as always, nobody puts pressure on me to do well like I do on myself."

Di Resta has worked hard over the winter with trainer Gerry Convy to ensure he is in the best possible shape for the season ahead, and he admitted it was all about now achieving the goals he has put in place for the year ahead.

"By a long margin. I'm very comfortable," said Di Resta. "Richard [Goddard – manager] is doing a good job, I'm working away with Gerry, and I'm part of a team again in which we all know how we work, what the goals are ahead, and we all know what is expected of us.

"Now it's about achieving that, about what we put in in trying to achieve it, which we will hopefully do towards the end of the year."

The only pressure Paul is going to feel is from Caterham. and Marusia trying to overtake him. May be Williams and Sauber at times on a couple of tracks. Sutil will repeat WILL be better than Paul. Plus Sutil is not as whinney cry baby like Paul. My one suggestion to Paul - Go back to DTM.
