Bahrain GP tickets 'selling fast'

"We have picked up somewhat, but have not started doing very well yet," he continued, "The hotels did fairly good business during last year's F1 [event], but this time we hope to do better."

Five-star hotels were reporting better business, despite not slashing prices, but still expected trade to pick up in the days immediately before F1 touched down after flying in from next weekend's Chinese Grand Prix.

"We are expecting a very good performance this year as compared to the last year," executive committee chairman Abdulnabi Daylami said, "Last year was good business, but this year promises to be better than that."

DJ Calvin Harris and R&B star Ne-Yo are both slated to entertain the crowds after the Bahrain race on 21 April, while a range of attractions will take place throughout the weekend.

@Mr.Wizard, No they shoudnt and will not drop this race. F1 has been racing here since 2004 and is here to stay for years to come. Because of Bahrain, which was the 1st country in the Gulf to host F1, Abu Dhabi followed and made a track like no other on the planet, a true master piece. FYI, The Gulf is the richest region in the world and you think F1 should move away to poorer regions like south america? Thats a cracking joke! Lol At least we have new tracks unlike the old facilities Europe has, does super old silverstone ring a bell? Wanna talk about humun rights or politics? Wanna start with China or Korea or the US with Guantanam bay? Or the fact that DC is the capital of murder and crime in the World?! Lets not get into Politics and stay on track. F1 is in Bahrain and is here to stay. My regards, Abdulla from Bahrain
