Horner: Vettel, Webber know 'real opponents' outside of team

5 April 2013

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has said he is not worried about any infighting at the Chinese Grand Prix next weekend, despite what happened in Malaysia, when Sebastian Vettel deliberately disobeyed team orders and stole the victory from team-mate, Mark Webber.

Vettel's actions stoked media coverage in the aftermath of the second round in the 2013 F1 World Championship, and while the German subsequently apologised, Webber was, understandably, not at all happy.

Horner has again insisted though that the matter has now been resolved, although it remains to be seen what will happen out on track in Shanghai.

“Both of them know what the team's views were of Malaysia. It is something that has been discussed, something that has been addressed,” Horner told British newspaper, Metro. “They know the real opponents sit outside of the team, not inside the team.

“There will be competition. I don't expect them to be spending Christmas together or anything like that. But they are professionals who will work to ensure we keep moving forward.

“Sebastian brings the best out of Mark, and Mark brings the best out of Sebastian because they push each other hard.”
