Bianchi: Points still unrealistic

Jules Bianchi says it isn't yet realistic to think that Marussia can challenge for points in F1
Jules Bianchi says he feels Marussia still has a lot of work to do if the Anglo-Russian team wants to break into the F1 points for the first time this season.

The Frenchman has been in impressive form for the team so far this year after his eleventh-hour deal to partner Max Chilton, leading the 'new team' drivers home in both Australia and Malaysia - with a best finish of 13th in the latter.

Bianchi's performances have seen Marussia moving noticeably closer to the midfield than it has been in the past but he said he felt it was still unrealistic to expect the team to challenge for points without a further step forwards in performance.

"For sure we are a lot closer now [to the midfield] than the team was last year, but all the teams are working hard,” he told Sky Sports. “We need to bring a big step forward and every time we bring something to the track, it has to be a good part which gives you an advantage. We will see, but our target is to be closer and closer to the midfield and if we can beat them as a team, we will.

"[However] We have to be realistic. I think it will be difficult [to score] as we are still missing some performance, but if we can do it, we will and our target will be to score our first point this year for sure."

Bianchi added that his immediate goal was simply to finish as many races as possible to build his knowledge and experience as he looks to secure a long-term future in the sport.

"First of all I will try to finish every race - I know it will be something really difficult, so I will focus on that and try to gain more experience by finishing every race I can," he said. "I am trying to do my best, but you never know what will happen.

"Every sport is the same - one day you are on the top, the next you are on the bottom. So you just have to work as much as you can all the time and don't think you have already arrived. For sure I will try to keep my level as it is now and even improve as I need to improve for sure."

A wise man said "whatever your hands find to do, do with all your might",looks like a work ethic Bianchi is displaying. It's now up to Marussia to give him a car which works at each Grand Prix.

If there's any driver Marrusia have had to take them into the points, it's surely Bianchi. The guy's left me speechless at his performances. It will require some developement and for Williams/STR to fail big time.... and maybe some luck on top of that, but I think this is the season where Marrusia finally come good.
