Lotus driver Romain Grosjean failed to make it through in the second phase of qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix.

Conditions remained changeable for Q2, with runners initially on intermediate tyres, before switching to slicks late on. Grosjean had been under pressure after his offs in practice, and as the times tumbled, he found himself knocked down to 13th. Nico Hulkenberg and Daniel Ricciardo also went out and will line up 11th and 12th, while Valtteri Bottas, Giedo van der Garde and Pastor Maldonado will start in positions 14 through to 16. Van der Garde was first to switch to slicks and the gamble paid off initially, with the Dutchman going sixth in his Caterham. Sadly though, he slipped back and in the end finished 15th.

At the other end, Sebastian Vettel meanwhile was fastest for Red Bull on a 1m 15.988s, ahead of Kimi Raikkonen and Nico Rosberg. Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Adrian Sutil, Mark Webber, Jenson Button, Jean-Eric Vergne and Sergio Perez also made it through to the shootout.

More to follow after Q3...
