Heikki Kovalainen has confirmed that he has split with his management company as he seeks to works towards a return to the F1 grid for 2014.
The Finn found himself without a drive this year following his departure from Caterham, where a lack of financial backing was enough to see him forced out of his seat after three years.
While Kovalainen has since returned to the Leafield-based team in a development role, the former McLaren
man continues to focus on putting together a package that will allow him to make a return to the grid next year but he is doing so without the support of IMG, having confirmed a split from the company that had previously managed his career.
“I'm not with IMG anymore,” he told SPEEDTV.com
. “I can confirm that, but I've agreed not to talk about it any further than that.
“I'm working on my own now, but right now there are no discussions with anybody else. I'm just focusing on working with Caterham and trying to help the team to move forward this year.”
