The third and final practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix is on hold while track workers fix barriers damaged in a previous session.

The armco at turn eleven - an unusual place for such a heavy impact - was badly realigned during a practice session for a Ferrari support race, leaving the marshals with a race against time to ensure that there is any F1 running before qualifying.

The stewards have already confirmed that, faced with the alternative of delaying the grid-setting session, final practice would still end at the appointed time, meaning that every minute taken to effect repairs to the barriers would be a minute less running for the teams and drivers before qualifying.

After the dry session that allowed each driver to get some running on slicks on Friday afternoon, Saturday morning has dawned overcast and damp, putting a premium on tyre use with only a limited amount of wet and intermediate rubber available to the teams and a degree of uncertainty over likely conditions for qualifying and the race.
