German Grand Prix: 'Reasonable' day for Hamilton

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton felt he made a solid start to the German Grand Prix weekend on Friday.
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton reckons he has made a 'reasonable' start to the German Grand Prix weekend.

Hamilton was quickest in the morning practice session at the Nurburgring, however, the Englishman dropped back in the afternoon and finished up eighth on the combined times on a 1 minute 31.304 seconds, which left 0.888 seconds off the top time posted by championship leader, Sebastian Vettel, and 0.653 seconds off team-mate, Nico Rosberg, who was second.

“It's been a reasonable day of practice for us,” Hamilton remarked in the countdown to the ninth round in the F1 2013 World Championship.

“This morning went pretty well and the car felt good, but then we made some changes which didn't quite work out for us this afternoon.

“The car felt a little off balance during P2 so we'll have a look into that overnight and probably backtrack on some of those changes for tomorrow. I'm sure we will be back on form for P3.”

Mercedes motorsport director, Toto Wolff added: “We had a solid first day in the cool conditions here. The new tyres ran without any incidents and we learned a lot about them, even if there are clearly some areas where we can still improve.

“The car balance was not great but both Lewis and Nico seemed quite competitive, so hopefully we can take another step forward tomorrow.

"The weather is forecast to warm up, so we will need to make the right changes tonight in order to anticipate the warmer conditions over the weekend.”

Please tell me what exactly has "splitting from Nicole" got to do F1? Absolutely Nothing (say it again, yeah) I can only imagine what the likes of the old F1 Guard make out of this!
