Circuit of the Americas lands X Games

18 July 2013

United States Grand Prix host, the Circuit of the Americas, has added another high-profile event to its burgeoning roster with confirmation that future Summer X Games will take place in Austin.

The venue staged its inaugural F1 event late last year and has since added MotoGP's Texas Motorcycle Grand Prix, Australian V8 Supercars, the FIA World Endurance Championship, American Le Mans Series and Rolex Sports Car Series to its 2013 calendar, before seeing a bid for the prestigious X Games contract accepted.

As a result, the ESPN-backed 'extreme sports' event will head to Austin for the next four years, starting with an inaugural visit over 15-18 May 2014.

“We could not have done this without YOUR help!” the circuit's website told supporters, “Congratulations to everyone who voted, rallied, rocked, shredded and shared to make this dream a reality. These are YOUR X Games!”

The venue, which will again host the penultimate round of the F1 world championship in 2013, has now said that it will mark it success with an exclusive weekend for one lucky fan, including four all-access X Games Austin passes, helicopter rides to and from the event, access to the Circuit of The Americas Tower and a 'pimped out' golf cart for travelling to all on-site events.
