Hungarian Grand Prix: Sauber quit talk is rubbish, says Hulkenberg

Nico Hulkenberg: They [the people who write this stuff] make me laugh... I read it on my Twitter page where people can write to me. A bunch of people were having a discussion and I was thinking: 'Where has that come from?'
Nico Hulkenberg has dismissed rumours the Hungarian Grand Prix might be his last race for Sauber and has said such reports are 'rubbish'.

Hulkenberg's future has been the subject of debate for weeks amid claims he has not been paid for recent races.

It has also been suggested that he no longer has a contract with Sauber, and is a free agent looking to move on as and when an opportunity arises. However talk this will be his last outing with the Swiss-based squad, has been categorically denied by the 25-year-old.

“It is rubbish,” he told reporters on Thursday as preparations gear up for the tenth round in the 2013 F1 World Championship and practice on Friday at the Hungaroring.

“They [the people who write this stuff] make me laugh – it really makes me smile. I read it on my Twitter page where people can write to me. A bunch of people were having a discussion and I was thinking: 'Where has that come from?'”

Meanwhile, Hulkenberg reiterated that he won't discuss in public his wages, and whether or not he has or hasn't been paid: “That is contractual detail which I don't want to talk about,” he said again.

As for 2014, he stressed no decision has yet been made: “I don't know at the moment. I'm looking at all my options but I haven't decided yet or done anything.

"Making a decision is a bit further down the line really. But I am talking to people and that includes Sauber,” he summed-up.

If there is one thing all F1 pilots know it's that "out of sight, out of mind" is the rule in driver selection. Only a fool would give up a seat with the drivers market like it is now.
