Hungarian Grand Prix: Webber lashes out after latest glitches

Mark Webber has hit out after yet another qualifying session for the Australian was hurt by technical issues with his KERS and gearbox, saying such recurring problems risks making Red Bull look 'stupid'.
The ongoing technical glitches being experienced primarily by the Red Bull #2 car risk embarrassing the team's standing in the sport, warned a "massively frustrated" Mark Webber in Budapest on Saturday.

His scathing comments came after another qualifying session was compromised by problems on his RB9, with the car's KERS system failing again and also problems with the car's gearbox.

"We look stupid," he said, not holding back any punches. "It's embarrassing ... We were driving the car around so far off the potential it's unbelievable, so it's massively frustrating.

"We didn't have KERS and the upshifts were downgraded and very slow. Together it's a lot of lap time that we left in the garage," Webber told Sky Sports News after the end of qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

"KERS was 50 per cent of it, and there were other things. We managed to tick every box in qualifying and made it hard," he said, adding that the whole situation had been "a pain in the arse" in already difficult conditions as temperatures in the paddock skyrocketed.

"It's amazing - all the effort you go to and then you have two weekends on the bounce when you get that," he continued. "We should be challenging for the front row, which is possible, and we're bloody tenth!

"It's a brutal circuit to be out of position on," he fumed, not happy at the prospect of having to fight his way forward at the Hungaroring, a circuit notoriously impervious to overtaking at the best of times.

At least Red Bull will be allowed to try fixing the KERS issue under parc fermé conditions overnight, and not running in Q3 also means that Webber is the highest-placed car still with a free choice of tyre compounds on which to start Sunday's race.

"We've got to get car operating at the limit the first thing tomorrow. It's a long race with not everything functioning correctly," agreed Webber. "We've got to get that sorted for tomorrow but as usual it's going to be hard to get the result we could have potentially got."

Mark, you should have jumped ship to Ferrari while you had the chance... Very disappointed to see my favourite driver since 2002 leaving the sport having been screwed by his team for the last four-to-five seasons.
