Boullier confident of consistent podiums

Eric Boullier says Kimi Raikkonen can be a consistent podium finisher through the rest of the F1 season - and could still beat Sebastian Vettel to the title
Lotus boss Eric Boullier says he is confident that Kimi Raikkonen can still fight for the F1 title through the remainder of the season after the Finn finished ahead of Sebastian Vettel in Hungary.

Raikkonen took second behind Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes, with Vettel taking third to retain his place as championship leader.

Second for Raikkonen was good enough to see him move back into second place in the standings although he still finds himself 38 points down on the defending champion going into the summer break.

Despite that however - and despite Raikkonen himself saying that 'second and thirds are not enough' - Boullier said he felt that the 2007 title winner could still be a contender for top honours.

"It is the most important thing to have the pace, and there will be some tracks where we struggle a little bit more, but I'm sure more or less we will be consistent and fighting for podiums every weekend,” Boullier was quoted by ESPNF1. “That's good for the constructors' chase and obviously if we can give Kimi the same push and start to beat Red Bull every weekend - okay, maybe I'm dreaming - but here [in Hungary] we did it.

"In Spa we should be good. Monza is always particular because it requires a low-downforce package. Maybe in some way we could have a good race there because the less downforce you get the more harsh with tyres you are, so we should get the benefit of our car design."
