Caterham's Giedo van der Garde has said it is too early to talk about 2014 and that the 'important thing' is to remain focused on the here and now.

The Dutchman enjoyed what he reckoned was his 'best day in F1 so far' in Hungary, en-route to 14th overall and his highest finish to date at the pinnacle of the sport.

Despite that though, he believes it is critical he continues to deliver in the next few races in Belgium, Italy and Singapore, ahead of negotiations for next season in around four to eight weeks time.

"To be honest, I'm not really thinking about next season at the moment," he told "The last race went very well for me, [but] now it is important to perform well in the next few races to show what I can do. Then we'll see what is possible for next year.

"It is too early to talk to teams about next season. It will take another month or two before this happens.

"The important thing for now is to stay focused on myself."
