Former F1 champion Mika Hakkinen says he is working hard to secure the best possible future for protégé Valtteri Bottas.
Former McLaren man Hakkinen is involved with the management of the 23-year-old, who made the step up to F1 this season with Williams.
While he has shown up well alongside team-mate Pastor Maldonado, Bottas has yet to score after a challenging start to the year for the Williams team.
With that in mind, Hakkinen said he was impressed by the way in which the rookie had performed on track, and insisted his countryman as in good hands as work goes on behind the scenes to secure his future.
“We are working hard to achieve the best possible situation for Valtteri in many ways,” he told Championat
. “I think his performance this season has been amazing and he is in good hands.
“In terms of his results this season, they haven't come yet but that is because the team hasn't developed a car to get the top results. They need a little more time.”
