If Lewis Hamilton could win the Hungarian Grand Prix whilst pining for on-off partner Nicole Scherzinger, should his F1 rivals be concerned that the couple have apparently reunited?

Hamilton dedicated his win at the Hungaroring to the American singer, admitting that he had been going through a tough time since their work-enforced split, but reports in the celebrity media pages suggest that F1's summer break has since allowed them to rekindle the flame of their romance.

While the stories differ between a simple heart-to-heart at Scherzinger's LA home and Hamilton clearing all but a table and two chairs from the couple's US hideaway before strewing the place with rose petals and candles in a bid to win her back, the end result is supposedly the same - a happy Mercedes driver with no distractions for the remainder of the 2013 season.

The pair began dating after meeting at the 2007 MTV Awards after Hamilton's debut season in the top flight, but their last major split accompanied the Briton's worst spell of F1 form, with an erratic 2011 season seeing him finish behind a team-mate for the first time in his career. The couple got back together at the end of the year, and Hamilton returned to produce some of his best performances for McLaren since becoming world champion, before opting to move to Mercedes for 2013.

Although the media has always claimed that the couple were either splitting or reuniting, the latest separation appeared to be serious as Scherzinger decided that she could not commit to both her career and supporting Hamilton in his own globe-trotting exploits. However, reports again suggest that they are 'back on track'.

"Both Nicole and Lewis had a bit of time off so it was the perfect time to meet," Britain's Sunday People quotes a source as saying, "After the split, he was devastated so, when he suggested that he fly out to see Nicole, he was delighted she said yes. He went to her house in Los Angeles to talk things through and both thought it was a great success."

Like last year, the couple will struggle to find time to be together as they try to marry his F1 schedule and her commitment to UK TV 'talent' show The X Factor, but have allegedly vowed to overcome those difficulties.

"It was the last opportunity when they could spend time together and talk through their future," the source continued, "They desperately want to be together, but they know that, from now until Christmas, is going to be really tough. They love one another dearly and have deeply missed each other since they split. They're both willing to give it their best shot and try to make a success of it though."

Hamilton currently lies fourth in the F1 drivers' standings, 48 points behind leader Sebastian Vettel, with nine rounds remaining.
