Marko rules out Nasr for Toro Rosso

Helmut Marko rules GP2 racer Felipe Nasr out of the running to replace Daniel Ricciardo at Toro Rosso for 2014
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has played down talk that Felipe Nasr could be in the running to replace Daniel Ricciardo at Toro Rosso next year.

The Red Bull 'B' team is seeking a replacement for the Australian when he moves on to replace countryman Mark Webber next year, with suggestions that money from Brazil could put Nasr in the frame to replace him.

Marko however has moved to play down that speculation by ruling Nasr out of the equation, insisting that there was no rush to make a decision.

“I know him [Nasr],” Marko was quoted by Estado de S.Paulo. “Despite being in the championship for a while, he has not won a race.

“We are not in a hurry, there are still many races left in competitions where there are drivers in our junior programme. [We want] someone from the junior programme and not just with the potential as a formula one driver, but to fight for victories and titles. That's quite a different thing.”

Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost meanwhile agreed that it was right for the former Minardi squad to take its time when deciding who to chose to replace Ricciardo.

"We have plenty of time and no need to decide anything in the next two or three weeks," he told EFE. "We have until the start of next season. We'll see what we do.

"We have some young drivers with extraordinary talent. One of them is Carlos Sainz jr but we also have Daniil Kvyat, and Felix da Costa.

"There are many races left (in 2013). Da Costa has six races. Let's let the drivers finish their seasons. Then we will see if we choose one of them or someone different."

Tost did admit however that age could work against both Sainz and Kvyat as they seek to make the move into F1.

"I think usually Formula One drivers should be at least 20 or 21," he said. "But there are many other factors."

RedBull backed teams dont need the money! This is so stupid, first it was RedBull cant run Kimi because hes salary is so big. No they are putting some pay driver in Toro Rosso. Toro Rosso is stepping stone for RB and they want best drivers in there, they dont care money. If they wanted they could put Kimi and Alonso driving in Toro Rosso, Vettel and Schumaher in backup and Hamilton, Rusberg to work the wheel guns. They have money, only thing they care is talent, just like it should be.
