Vettel: I’ll miss Webber rivalry

19 September 2013

Sebastian Vettel insists that he will miss his rivalry with Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber when the Australian leaves F1 at the end of the year.

The pair have enjoyed a troubled relationship in recent seasons, which came to a head in Malaysia earlier this year.

Webber was leading the race when Vettel ignored team orders not to attack for top spot, taking position from Webber and going on to secure victory.

While Webber had already suggested that he wouldn't miss Vettel a great deal when he makes the move into sportscars, the German admitted that the would miss the competition between the pair, who have raced together at Red Bull since 2009.

"You can say what you want about our relationship, but in the end we pushed each other very hard,” he told Sportwoche. “I will miss that.

"There has always been two or three corners where Mark has me biting my lip. You try to figure out what he is doing, which keeps you busy enough."

Webber will be replaced by fellow Australian Daniel Ricciardo for 2014.
