Sebastian Vettel was relieved to see his fourth world championship - and sixth race win in as many races since F1's summer break - greeted in the customary manner by fans at Buddh International Circuit.
Unlike a number of occasions earlier in the season, Vettel was given a rapturous reception on the podium by the Indian fans and admitted it was particularly rewarding to have taken the title giving some of the booing he had faced earlier on the year.
“I want to thank the crowd for an unbelievable reception,” he said. “I also want to say a big thank you to everyone who is behind the team as it has not been an easy season.
“From the outside, people will think it was easy, but it wasn't. It has been hard for me in particular, to be booed when I have not done anything wrong was hard but I think I answered the things on the track which I am very pleased about."
