Alonso: Everything was, is and will be 'perfect' at Ferrari

Fernando Alonso: Every weekend I repeat the same thing...
Fernando Alonso has insisted his relationship with Ferrari 'was', 'is' and 'will' be 'perfect' in the future, even if the partnership has still to yield a title.

Alonso went to the Scuderia in 2010, but despite coming close to ultimate success in his first season, and also in 2012, he has still to claim that third crown and replicate what he managed with Renault in 2005 and 2006.

Quizzed on how his bond with the Maranello-based team has evolved during this year, he said: “It's fantastic. Obviously, every weekend I repeat the same thing. So I guess in Austin on Thursday the first question in the press conference will be how is my relationship with the team..."

“It was perfect, it is perfect and it will be perfect,” he emphasised.

Looking to the final three races – which, of course includes this weekend's event in Abu Dhabi - the Spaniard added that it will be important to remain focussed.

He also conceded though, that he never really had a 'realistic' chance of beating Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull in 2013.

“I think we need to be realistic, knowing that we didn't have the chance this year to fight for the championship,” he confirmed.

“In the beginning of the year we were a little bit closer but then we were not quick enough and we are fighting now for other targets, which is the Constructors' Championship and second place in the Drivers' [Championship] as well, which was not the main priority when we started the season but still a good target to achieve and a good thing for the team, to help them.

“We'll see, I think we need to keep very focused in the remaining races and try to do our best and obviously with half of our mind thinking of 2014 because we are competitive people, we want to win.

“This year it was not possible but next year we start from zero,” he summed-up.

There ls nothing wrong with being realistic, particularly when the last 4 years have been so close to bbeating Seb without success. Still fighting till the end and remain in one piece after each and every race. My respect for Ferdi
