This year's Race Of Champions has been cancelled just two weeks before it was due to take place, owing to 'political unrest' in Thailand.

The Sports Authority of Thailand and RoC organisers made a joint announcement confirming the postponement of the planned 14-15 December spectacle, which was to have featured several F1 drivers including German duo Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel, blaming the current political situation in Bangkok for the decision.

"Our thoughts are with the Thai people during this difficult period, and we wish that a peaceful solution will soon be found," a statement from the RoC confirmed, "The Race of Champions has been held all over the world for 25 consecutive years and we are currently looking at options of repeating the success of last year's event in Bangkok on another date."
