World Endurance Championship title winner - and multiple Le Mans victor - Allan McNish announced his immediate retirement from top level motorsport this week.

The Scot is best known for his success in sportscars, but he also got the chance to compete in F1 back in 2002, thanks to his relationship with Toyota.

It wasn't a great year – and he failed to score - but he did take four top-ten results (before points were awarded to those finishing in those places), with his best finish coming in Malaysia when he came home in seventh place (pictured). You can read all about his thoughts on that event and how a botched pit stop cost him points - HERE...

After that single year with Toyota, McNish then became Renault F1's test and reserve driver in 2003, before racing in the DTM in 2005 and switching back to sportscars full-time again from 2006.

Allan you will be missed.

Thanks for the memories...
