Monisha Kaltenborn admits Sauber is facing a "particularly challenging" weekend at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Sauber has struggled in the opening two races of the season so far, with both cars off the pace in Australia and then retiring in quick succession in Malaysia. With the car also overweight, Kaltenborn told Crash.net exclusively that she is steeling herself for what is likely to be a tough time at the Bahrain International Circuit, but the team principal is hopeful Sauber can make some positive progress.

"I think Bahrain is generally a tough challenge for us because it's not in the last few years at least been really our track, even the year we were really good with our car," Kaltenborn said. "We know that, so it's going to be particularly challenging for us but we'll take it as it comes.

"Maybe we can still find some bits and pieces on the set-up side. We probably will again be bringing a few little things, particularly on the chassis side, to still maybe reduce the weight a little so we are getting there..."

And Kaltenborn joked that she would not be revealing how far beyond its target weight Sauber is.

"I have never told you any figures and I will not tell you any figures. We ladies always have an issue when they have to discuss specific figures about the weight, so please accept that!"
