Bahrain Grand Prix: Malaysia will kick-start F1 season – Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton is confident he can win in Bahrain this weekend after breaking his duck at the Malaysian Grand Prix for Mercedes
Lewis Hamilton says his victory in the Malaysian Grand Prix will kick-start his season after a DNF in Australia.

While Mercedes has begun the year in dominant form, Hamilton is already 18 points behind team-mate Nico Rosberg as a result of retiring early in the Australian Grand Prix. Heading to Bahrain, Hamilton says his comfortable victory in Malaysia last weekend has helped him quickly get over that disappointment and gives him confidence he can also win at Sakhir for the first time.

“It was great to kick-start my season with a win in Malaysia,” Hamilton said. “Taking a one-two was also a fantastic result for the team and I can't wait to see what we can do in Bahrain.

“I've finished on the podium here a couple of times here but, for one reason or another, I've never managed to get the win. Until last week it was the same story for me with Malaysia, so fingers crossed this can be the year of breaking those cycles!”

Although the two races are so close together, Hamilton is wary Mercedes could face sterner opposition than in Malaysia due to every team being so familiar with Bahrain.

“Malaysia was a really busy event for the team and we have a test coming up straight after this weekend's race, so it would be great to give the crew another good result to head home with after a long road trip.

“We know it's going to be tough to maintain our current form, particularly at a circuit where every team has had so much running time over the winter, but I'll be pushing hard to keep those results coming.”

I am more interested in what motivated Vettel to bad mouth the sound of the engines... If Red Bull sorts out their car then I see much of the same this year. When mistakes happen Vettel is the damage control king. 2013 = 2014 And when it is working right Vettel destroys the competition.

hammy can embarrass the field or get caught up in stupid. reminds me of red bull domination, but feels like brawn gp - strong out of the gate... remember these infamous words: rubens, jenson is faster than you.
