Full FP2 times HERE

Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time of FP2 under the lights in Bahrain as Mercedes finished well clear of the field.

Hamilton's best time of 1:34.325 left him 0.365s clear of team-mate Nico Rosberg and over a second ahead of third-placed Fernando Alonso. The field was closely matched behind the two Mercedes, with the gap from Alonso to Nico Hulkenberg in 13th standing at just 0.6s and featuring six different teams.

Daniel Ricciardo was again quicker than team-mate Sebastian Vettel, but the Red Bull was around a second a lap slower than the Mercedes over a long run, with the power deficit in the Renault engine becoming apparent on the straights.

Felipe Massa's long run for Williams was more encouraging and closer to the Mercedes pace, but it took place late in the session as the team opted to stay in the garage for the first half of FP2 while the track cleaned up. Valtteri Bottas completed just nine laps as a result as he set the 11th fastest time.

The teams were faced with lower track temperatures in the second session, with a drop of around 15C affecting the Pirelli tyres. There were also a number of issues during the session, with Jean-Eric Vergne having a strange spin at Turn 8 as his rear wheels appeared to lock. Max Chilton later suffered a similar fate at Turn 4, with his front left brake seeming to fail before he was pitched in to a spin as the rears locked on him at high speed.

Pastor Maldonado damaged the floor of his Lotus by running wide at Turn 4 and being launched off a kerb as he rejoined, with small bits of debris being left on the track, while Adrian Sutil pulled to a halt a few corners later but was able to rejoin in the final five minutes of the session.

The last car to stop was Marcus Ericsson's Caterham as he pulled off the track with six minutes to go, and he ended the session slowest as Sauber, Lotus, Marussia and Caterham were all noticeably off the pace of those ahead over one lap.
