Nico Rosberg has been working on areas he felt were exposed during the Bahrain Grand Prix during his day of testing on Tuesday.

Team-mate Lewis Hamilton managed to repel a number of attacks from Rosberg to win the race on Sunday, despite Rosberg running the faster soft compound tyre in the final stint following a safety car period. Speaking to after completing his day in the car at the Bahrain test, Rosberg said there were areas he still needed to improve which had been the focus of his attention.

"The programme was trying to get the tyres to work a bit better," Rosberg said. "With Pirelli it's always a challenge, you never stop learning how to get the best out of them. Then we did some stuff on braking - I'm not 100% happy yet with the brakes in the car - then just general set-up. Also my individual things like electronics; it's very powerful this year what you can do with electronics so just tried some things around it."

Asked if he had been focusing on areas highlighted during his fight with Hamilton, Rosberg replied: "I was working on some things today.

"Not compared to him really, just things that I don't feel 100% comfortable with yet. So I focused a bit on that too just to be able to get a bit more out of it."

With Rosberg completing the most mileage on Tuesday - 121 laps - he admitted it was "awesome" that Mercedes was able to make so much progress every time it takes to the track.

"The team has done a phenomenal job over the winter really. Now it's nice because I can say it, I don't have to be cautious to hide it anymore, they've just done a spectacular job in every direction: reliability, performance of the car, of the engine, everything. Everything fits together, so it's really great and it's a pleasure to be a part of this momentum that we have going at the moment. It's awesome."
