Ross Brawn has played down a visit to the Ferrari factory in Maranello as part of a holiday.
Having been away from F1 since leaving Mercedes at the end of last season, Brawn was sighted at Ferrari's headquarters on Monday. That led to speculation that he could return to Maranello having previously worked as technical director for the team during Michael Schumacher's period of dominance in the early 2000s.
However, Brawn told the BBC
that his visit was "with a group of friends as part of a tour of Italy – no more than that!"
A Ferrari spokesman added that the trip was "simply an Italian fantasy tour with friends scheduled for some time."
Ferrari is undergoing a number of changes following the resignation of team principal Stefano Domenicali prior to the Chinese Grand Prix, with Marco Mattiacci replacing him. President Luca di Montezemolo has been trying to streamline operations in order to make the team “more flexible and efficient”
