Nico Rosberg admits it is crucial for him to put an end to the "result momentum" that Lewis Hamilton has at present.

Hamilton has won the last three grands prix but still trails Rosberg in the drivers' championship having retired from the season-opening Australian Grand Prix; which Rosberg won. Having been comfortably beaten in both Malaysia and China, Rosberg admits he needs to stop his team-mate's run as quickly as possible.

"Every weekend is crucial, but for sure the result momentum is on his side at the moment and I need to try to turn it around," Rosberg said. "Definitely, that's the case, so I'm here to win in Barcelona to try and extend the lead in the championship."

However, Rosberg doesn't believe he needs to change his approach to get the better of Hamilton, just requires a clean race weekend.

"I'm comfortable to keep on doing what I'm doing. What I need is a normal weekend - I haven't had one of those lately - so I just need a normal weekend and then I'm sure I'll be able to turn things around.

"Just a straightforward weekend without complications. In China there was many of them throughout the whole weekend, so it really was a damage limitation weekend for me and with second place it was the perfect damage limitation. So I just look forward to a weekend without too many complications and then I'm sure I'll be a lot stronger."

When it was put to Rosberg that he could attempt to rile Hamilton to unsettle his form, he said it wasn't something he was thinking about at present.

"We're team-mates so of course there is going to be the occasional discussion and things like that but in general there is not much of that at the moment."
