Felipe Massa says Williams can beat Ferrari to third in the constructors' championship and shouldn't rule out chasing Red Bull either.

Valtteri Bottas finished fifth in the Spanish Grand Prix to move Williams ahead of McLaren in the constructors' standings. While Bottas was ahead of both Ferraris, Massa struggled with tyre degradation but having found the cause during the in-season test he said Williams has to set itself high targets.

"I think the car was competitive [in Spain], maybe a bit more than I expected," Massa said. "I hope we can see a similar thing in Monaco and we are just pushing very hard to get more points compared to other teams that we are fighting.

"In this race unfortunately I couldn't score points but with what Valtteri did we scored more points than Force India and McLaren, which was positive. We passed McLaren in the championship so we need to keep pushing like that, we need to score points with both cars to get closer to Force India and also not forget that it can be possible to beat Ferrari as well.

"Red Bull we will see, but we need to believe that everything is possible."

One area where Williams has struggled is with rear downforce and Massa admitted the team had given up on a rear wing concept it had been trying to get to work during the early races.

"We could not try it. We cannot use that wing anymore. We have to build a bigger one, so I don't know how long that will take but we tried it many times and it never worked. So it's something that we need to try to understand another direction for that."
