Kamui Kobayashi says he is enjoying trying to improve Caterham after a disappointing start to the season.

Marussia currently holds 10th place in the constructors' championship as both teams remain off the pace of the midfield, and Caterham was noticeably uncompetitive at the Circuit de Catalunya last weekend. However, Kobayashi says the struggles do not have an impact on his motivation and insists he is enjoying the work that is required to help the team improve.

"Of course we enjoy working, working in Formula One has always been great," Kobayashi said. "At the moment our performance is poor but I think to do the progress during the season is the most important and I enjoy the work to do that. So I think we are doing quite well."

And Kobayashi believes the Monaco Grand Prix next weekend will allow Caterham to be more competitive on the street circuit.

"Monaco is a completely different track so I think it is going to be a different challenge. At least in Monaco there is not much high-speed, so maybe for us it's going to be better."

However, while relishing the challenge Kobayashi admitted that Caterham's issues were not going to be resolved by quick fixes.

"It's been a lot of work and it's not easy. But I think we are making progress and in the end I think we know what we need to do and how we need to improve, but we can't change everything overnight so I think that is one of the problems."
