Valtteri Bottas says Williams could be strong once again in Austria even if the Red Bull Ring may not suit its car.

Williams was strong in Montreal but failed to take advantage, with problems limiting Bottas to seventh place in the race and team-mate Felipe Massa retiring in a huge crash with Sergio Perez late on. While Bottas doesn't expect the track in Austria to play to Williams' strengths quite as much, he says the performance in Barcelona - where he finished fifth - should act as motivation for the team.

"Initial thoughts are that it should be medium for us," Bottas said. "Not maybe the best but not the worst, so we should be competitive there again. Like in Barcelona, we had quite a strong race and it was a track which was not supposed to be the best one for us.

"So we need to aim for a better result and more points there. I think it's possible. It's a new track for me so it should be interesting to get there and see how the track is."

And Bottas is not concerned that Williams keeps missing out on opportunities to score strong results, insisting that there are not recurring issues causing the team to miss out.

"[Canada] was different things affecting us. It's always been different things and we haven't repeated the same kind of mistakes. The conclusion after the race was that we could have done a better job with the strategy but then in the end the failure we had with the ERS - there was nothing we could have done during the race for that. The engine modes we had to go to in the end were only to get to the flag really."
