Nico Hulkenberg is hopeful he can extract more speed from his Force India in qualifying for the British Grand Prix after struggling with the high winds at Silverstone in free practice.
The German, along with team-mate Sergio Perez, endured a dismal day around Force India's 'home' circuit, the pair well done the timesheets in 17th and 16th respectively.
Though Perez is consigned to the fact the VJM07 is not well-suited to the demands of the Northamptonshire circuit
, Hulkenberg believes the high winds across the circuit played a pivotal role in his lack of pace.
“I think it is a bit wind-related,” he said. “Straight away it was pretty tricky and unpredictable to drive in these conditions. We have to understand a bit more and hopefully with the right conclusions and improve for tomorrow.
“Wind is never good for a racing car, especially when it is so gusty and so strong, racing cars don't like that. It makes it hard for the aero to stay healthy so you can feel it in the car. There will be cars that can cope better with this and cars that will be worse with it.”
