Rossi and Caterham part company

Alexander Rossi has announced he has left Caterham's F1 and GP2 teams following the change of management
Alexander Rossi has announced he has left Caterham's F1 and GP2 teams following the change of management.

Tony Fernandes sold the F1 outfit to a group of Swiss and Middle Eastern investors who were advised by Colin Kolles. With Kolles and Christijan Albers now taking over the management of Caterham F1, Rossi has confirmed he has left his role as a reserve driver and will not be racing for the GP2 team in Hockenheim this weekend.

"I'm very thankful to everyone at Caterham throughout the time I have worked with the team," Rossi said. "We had meetings over the past couple months with the previous and new management. The decision we took to leave Caterham is the right decision for my career."

Rossi - who had been due to drive for Caterham in FP1 in Austin later this year - said he feels ready to step in to an F1 race seat, with Crash.net understanding a decision on his next move is set to be made in the next few weeks.

"I take with me only the positives from my time there, where I logged considerable F1 mileage, driving each of their F1 cars since Lotus Racing entered the F1 World Championship in 2010. I have proven my abilities in F1 equipment, in both testing and free practice sessions, and I'm ready for the next step.

"My goal is to be in F1 and add value to the sport. We have a great opportunity to grow the sport in the States and I believe the timing is perfect. I'm also very pleased to see an American F1 entry, Haas Formula with plans to join the F1 grid in 2016."

Yeah, but what will he do in 2015 then? Testing only? Reckon it would be nice to be racing somewhere, in something, to keep his skills alive. Part-time Indy drive combined with test driving for Haas maybe?
