F1 German Grand Prix: Talking to other teams not priority - Alonso

Fernando Alonso says he is not in talks with any other teams for 2015
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has said he hasn't talked to any teams about 2015 and that at the moment it is not his priority.

Alonso is contracted to the Scuderia until the end of 2016, but that hasn't stopped the speculation, fuelled by the failings of the Maranello-based squad and another troublesome season.

“It is the same question every year in July from 2004 or 2003 – so it is eleven years,” he told reporters on Thursday ahead of this weekend's German Grand Prix. “I haven't talked with any other team and it is not, at the moment, my priority.

“We have to score some good points this weekend and get some good results this year. Then the future we will see...”

Asked about his hopes for this Sunday's race, the Spaniard wasn't particularly upbeat.

“Obviously being realistic, again this will be a tough weekend. We have hot temperatures and soft and supersoft tyres, which automatically requires some tyre management in those temperatures. In the last races with these kinds of temperatures we were not very competitive, like Canada and some other races [this year],” he explained.

“Here we have some new parts and hopefully they will bring some performance and help with cooling. But we know it is going to be difficult,” he continued.

“Our intention and our target is to beat some of our main competitors for the Constructors' Championship. Between third and seventh place in the Constructors' Championship it is getting very tight and will be very tight until the end of the season. Here is the first opportunity that we have to reduce the gap to Red Bull and increase it if we can to Williams and McLaren – they are becoming very strong. I think it is going to be interesting."

“I have won three times here at Hockenheim though and twice at the Nurburging. So for whatever reason every time we come to Germany we seem to have a good weekend and hopefully this year we can continue that trend,” he concluded, rather more positively.
