F1 German Grand Prix: Perez poised from top ten start

Sergio Perez has high hopes for his race chances in the German Grand Prix after qualifying inside the top ten at Hockenheim.
Sergio Perez has says he was happy to repay the Force India team with a top ten berth in qualifying for the 2014 German Grand Prix at Hockenheim.

Having struggled for single lap pace in free practice, Perez had predicted a tough qualifying session, even if he was expecting to come on stronger in the race.

However, though hydraulic issues conspired to compound Perez's frustrations coming into qualifying, a single late lap in Q2 was enough to squeeze him into Q3 where he would go on to secure tenth place.

With confidence in his race package, Perez was pleased to secure a starting position that he hopes will help him capitalise on that, particularly if it stays hot.

“In Q1 I was not so good and I had a gearbox problem in Q2, so that put us quite far behind. We only got one shot so to make it into Q3 [was great]. I was really happy for the team after the issues we had with the hydraulics.

“We are strong in hot conditions so if it stays like it was in qualifying then we know what we have to do. Anything can happen. We expect rain at some point so it will be interesting what
