Lewis Hamilton will start 20th after being hit with a five-place grid penalty for a gearbox change following his crash in qualifying for the German Grand Prix.

A front right brake disc failure pitched Hamilton in to a spin under braking for the Turn 13 hairpin, with his Mercedes hitting the tyre barrier head-on. Following overnight inspections, the team has confirmed that the gearbox was damaged in the incident and will need to be changed.

Hamilton has been allowed to change brake disc suppliers from Brembo to Carbon Industrie by the FIA without having to start from the pit lane, and as a result will start the race from 20th place.
