Sebastian Vettel says the Sochi F1 circuit is "going to be a huge challenge in a Formula One car" after completing a lap of the Russian Grand Prix circuit.

The Sochi track is nearing completion ahead of the inaugural Russian Grand Prix on 12th October. On Monday after the Belgian Grand Prix, Vettel headed to Russia to drive the circuit in an Infiniti road car having last visited the circuit in April 2013, and so again received a tour of the venue and facilities before taking to the track.

Vettel said the mix of corners coupled with the close walls on the new street circuit will really test the F1 drivers later this year.

"It is great to be back in Sochi and the venue has been transformed since I was last here when it was really just a construction site," Vettel said. "Having driven the full circuit for the first time in the Infiniti Q50 today, it's an interesting layout with a good mix of high speed corners and technical sections.

"It's going to be a huge challenge in a Formula One car for sure and I'm really looking forward to coming back in October."
