Following his best result of the season last time out at Spa-Francorchamps, Kimi Raikkonen presented further evidence that he is beginning to find his form again at Ferrari as he ended the first day of free practice for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in third place.

Leading a Ferrari 3-4 behind the dominant Mercedes' in FP2, Raikkonen spent the afternoon focusing on tyre compounds, in doing so producing a 1min 26.331secs lap time to finish little more than a tenth adrift of Nico Rosberg.

In turn commanding a four tenth advantage over Williams' Valtteri Bottas in fifth place, Raikkonen was pleased with the progress made.

The reason I've been so disappointed by Kimi's season so far is because we all know he's capable of speed like this, and it sucks to see him limping around. I know its practice, but can only hope it continues.
